Traditionally seen as a laggard and extremely risk-averse in tech adoption, the legal industry is starting to turn a corner with cloud and generative AI (GenAI).
Cloud adoption accelerated during the COVID-19 work-from-home shift, but now AI is reshaping how law firms and in-house teams handle administrative and client work. The shift is even showing up on the Forbes Cloud 100, where legal tech is making waves. As noted by the authors, “𝐺𝑒𝑛𝑒𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑣𝑒 𝐴𝐼’𝑠 𝑓𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑒𝑟𝑝𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑠 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑦𝑒𝑎𝑟’𝑠 𝐶𝑙𝑜𝑢𝑑 100 𝑙𝑖𝑠𝑡,” including four legal tech companies.
▪️Clio (Canadian legal practice management provider) rose 10 spots to #46
▪️DeepL (AI translator widely used by legal professionals) ranked #75
▪️Harvey (GenAI-powered legal automation) joined the list at #91
▪️EvenUp (AI platform for personal injury lawyers) also joined the list at #100
As GenAI and Agentic AI move from “nice to have” to mission-critical, legal tech is earning its place among top cloud players. Expect to see more legal names in future cross-industry rankings.
